The Greek National Commission for Human Rights (GNCHR), as the independent advisory body to the Greek State for issues pertaining to the protection and promotion of human rights.

Since its establishment in 1998, the GNCHR has at the core of its mission the development of educational programs and activities aimed at cultivating respect for human rights within the educational system (article 12 (f) of Law No. 4780/2021) and raising awareness on these issues within the public and the media (article 12 (j) of Law No. 4780/2021).

The second cycle of this year’s educational activities on “Women’s Empowerment and Substantive Gender Equality” covers critical issues related to women’s rights and is aimed both at the general public and at specific target groups. The representation of women, who have managed to defy stereotypes and distinguish themselves in the fields of science, business, politics and the public sphere in general, inspires, empowers us and facilitates the path towards achieving substantive equality, which is also a prerequisite for the proper functioning of democracy.
