AIKATERINI POURNARA

Aikaterini Pournara was born in Athens and is a lawyer, member of the Athens Bar Association. She graduated in Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in European Financial and Economic Criminal Law from the University of Luxembourg.

She has been a National Delegate and Member of the COPEN working group of the Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights for Cooperation in Criminal Matters on the Proposal for a Council Regulation on the Establishment of a European Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO), while she was member of Legislative Preparatory Committees and Working Groups of the Ministry of Justice (Adaptation of Framework Decisions 2003/577, 2005/212 and 2006/783 on the freezing and confiscation of proceeds of crime and on the signature of the Council of Europe Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the proceeds from crime and on the Financing of Terrorism and Review of the Implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC)). She has worked with the Council of Europe in the JustROM CoE / EC program on access to justice for Roma women and with the Centre for the Treatment of Dependent Individuals (KETHEA) for the legal support of members of treatment programs. She is a member of the Hellenic League for Human Rights and a member of the Legal Experts Advisory Panel of the non-governmental organization Fair Trials International.
