“Development of the national dialogue and consultation platform for Roma issues of the National Contact Point - ROMA PLATFORM 2020”

The GNCHR participated in the training program of the project “Development of the national dialogue and consultation platform for Roma issues of the National Contact Point - ROMA PLATFORM 2020”, which was organized by the Office of the Secretary General for Social Solidarity and Combatting Poverty, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs on 18-19 March. The GNCHR was represented by the Legal Officer Katerina Charokopou, in the panel on “The role and guidelines of International Organizations and Independent Authorities”, where she welcomed the new National Strategy for Roma 2021-2030, reiterating, among others, the need for unconditional respect for the rights of this vulnerable social group and for immediate and effective prevention and combating of the persistent phenomenon of discrimination against them, as well as the need to take appropriate measures to protect them against racism, with emphasis on Roma women and children.
