The Greek National Commission for Human Rights (GNCHR) welcomed on 1 October 2025, at its offices the delegation of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, holding a meeting on issues of hate crime, hate speech, the role of the GNCHR and the Racist Violence Recording Network (RVRN) and exchange of good practices and the work of both institutions.
The meeting was attended by the GNCHR President, Professor Maria Gavouneli, the GNCHR Human Rights Advisor, Dr. Christos Tsevas, the CRRF CEO Mr. Mohammed Hashim and the Director of Research and Policy of Samara Centre for Democracy, Ms. Beatrice Wayne.

On the same day, the President of the NCHR, Professor Maria Gavouneli, participated in the interactive discussion co-organized by the Embassy of Canada and the Canadian Democracy Delegation on the topic “Democracy in a Country of Many Societies,” highlighting Canadian perspectives on pluralism and democracy.
The event took place at the Canadian Institute in Greece, on the occasion of the visit of the Canadian Democracy Delegation to Athens for their participation in the Athens Democracy Forum. The interactive discussion focused, among other things, on exploring how diverse societies can strengthen resilience, cohesion, and innovation in democracy.
